What every man should know before his first session
More men than ever are choosing laser hair removal — and for good reason. Here’s everything you need to walk in confidence and get the best possible results.
- Average sessions needed: 10 – 15, varies by area & hair type
- Most popular areas for men: Back & shoulders, chest & neck + plus beard line
- Pain level: Very manageable, with Zimmer -30°C cooling
Why men are choosing laser:
Laser hair removal isn’t just for women. Men are one of the fastest-growing demographics in the industry, and it’s easy to see why.
Whether the goal is a cleaner back, a more defined neckline, less maintenance on the chest, or saying goodbye to razor bumps for good, laser delivers results that shaving and waxing simply can’t match long-term.
There’s no judgment here. You have every right to feel comfortable and confident in your own skin, and we treat our male clients with the same expertise, care, and discretion as we do everyone else.
Popular treatment areas for men:
- Back & shoulders
- Chest & stomach
- Neck & beard line
- Arms & underarms
- Ears & nose area
- Legs
- Hands & feet
What makes men's laser hair removal different
Male hair is typically thicker, coarser, and denser than female hair. Because the laser targets the pigment in the hair follicle, coarser dark hair is actually an excellent candidate for treatment — the laser has a strong, clear target to work with.
The trade-off is that denser hair growth may require slightly more sessions in areas like the back or chest, where follicle density is high. We’ll always give you an honest assessment at your consultation.
A note on beard and facial hair
Facial hair is one of the most requested areas for men, particularly shaping and defining the beard line, removing neck hair below the jaw, or clearing unwanted cheek hair for a cleaner look. This is absolutely treatable.
However, full beard removal is a significant commitment and requires careful consultation. Hormonal factors mean that facial hair on men can be more resilient and may require more sessions than body areas. We’ll always walk you through what’s realistic for your specific goals before we begin.
Hormones and men's results
Testosterone plays a direct role in stimulating hair growth, which means hormonal fluctuations can influence your results over time — especially in androgen-sensitive areas like the face, chest, and lower abdomen.
This doesn’t mean lasers won’t work — it absolutely does. It does mean that maintaining your results with occasional top-up sessions may be more relevant for men than for women, particularly as you age. Think of it as part of your ongoing grooming routine, not a one-time fix.
Before your first appointment - Pre-session checklist
- Shave the area 24–48 hours before (Shaving only)
- Do not wax, thread, or use depilatory creams for at least 4–6 weeks prior — the laser needs the hair root to be present. If you wax, thread, or use depilatory creams, your sessions will be ineffective.
- Avoid sun exposure and tanning (We will send you home if your skin is tanned)
- Stay out of direct sun and avoid self-tanners for 2–6 weeks before your session. Tanned skin raises the risk of adverse reactions: worst case scenario burns…
- Skip the gym after your treatment – We want those hair follicles to stay cool, dry and clean
- Heat and sweat on freshly treated skin can cause irritation. Give it 24 hours before intense exercise.
- Avoid aftershave and fragrance products before treatment: We want your skin to be 100% clean and bare
- On treatment day, come in with clean, product-free skin on the area being treated.
- Disclose any and ALL medications (Especially if your have taken Accutane or any light sensitizing medications)
- Some medications — including certain antibiotics, retinoids, and acne treatments — can affect how your skin responds to lasers. Always let us know at your consultation.
- Stay consistent with your schedule: Sessions are timed around the hair growth cycle. Missing or delaying appointments resets progress. Commit to the schedule for the best outcome.
