Exion Radiofrequency Micro Needling
The radiofrequency technology is categorized into monopolar and bipolar, each with its own set of characteristics.
Exion Radiofrequency Micro Needling
BTL Exion
36 needles (more pokes = more tightening)
1-2 passes (20-30 mins for full face)
Little to no downtime
Reaches depths of 4mm for face
Can reach extended depth of 8mm
Monopolar delivery (deeper reaching/less pain)
InMode Morpheus8
12-24 needles
3-5 passes (40-60 mins for full face)
Little to no downtime
Reaches depths of 4mm for face
Cannot reach extended depth
Bipolar delivery (Shallow penetration/more pain)
Monopolar Radiofrequency Microneedling (BTL Exion): Less Pain, More Gain
Focused Energy Delivery:
Monopolar technology delivers radiofrequency energy through a single electrode, providing a
more concentrated and targeted treatment. The focused energy minimizes discomfort while maximizing the effectiveness of collagen stimulation.
Deeper Energy Penetration:
Monopolar radiofrequency penetrates the skin more deeply, reaching the dermal layer where collagen production is stimulated, then flows through the body to the grounding pad placed on
your back or abdomen. This much deeper penetration of heat allows for more profound skin tightening and rejuvenation.
Less Surface Discomfort/Pain:
The focused, deep reaching energy minimizes surface discomfort, making the procedure MUCH more tolerable. All patients report a noticeably more comfortable experience during and after Exion monopolar treatments.
Faster Treatments:
Exion’s disposable needle tips contain 36 needles (vs 12-24 for Morpheus8), which means more columns created in your skin, resulting in more collagen being produced. This also means that less passes over the skin are required, making the treatment time half of the Morpheus8.

Dual Electrodes:
Bipolar technology uses two electrodes in the handpiece, creating a balanced but broader distribution of radiofrequency energy across the surface of the skin. Basically, the radiofrequency heat jumps from one side of the handpiece to the other The wider energy dispersion means increased discomfort during the procedure.
Shallower Penetration:
Due to the dual electrode configuration, bipolar radiofrequency does not penetrate as deeply as monopolar technology, which also causes much more discomfort. Shallower penetration of heat may lead to less effective collagen stimulation and skin rejuvenation.
Appointment Time: 1-2 Hours depending on the size of area being treated.
Number of sessions required: Packages of 3 sessions
Pain Level: 5/10 after 30 minutes of prescription numbing cream
