These treatments are performed during one single session. Each treatment targets specific issues, such as loss of elasticity and tightness, dull sun damaged or aged looking skin, fine lines and wrinkles as well as even deeper imperfections, such as age spots and redness!

The different Fotona laser skin tightening treatments are broken down into 5 specific modes and can be used in many customized combinations, depending on your desired results:

1. intraoral erbium laser

The first step is a pain-free treatment that uses an Erbium laser and targets volume for the lower face intra-orally (from the inside of the mouth). Some results can be seen immediately after the treatment, smoothing the nasolabial folds (laugh lines), plumping the cheeks, and improving elasticity. Can be used as part of the lower face tighening treatment.

2. piano mode tightening

The second step is a brushing technique that is used to safely heat the more structural issues, targeting the deepest subcutaneous layer. Where the previous step worked from the inside, the Piano step works from the outside. The laser passes safely through the outer layers of the skin targeting deeper skin tissues and stimulates the production of collagen, which gives you an overall structural tightening effect and increases lost volume. The treatment is great for all skin types and is very comfortable. This mode can be used as part of the face and also neck tightening treatments.

3. frac 3 dermal tightening

In this 3rd step, a fractionated laser is used to treat wrinkles and sagging in the dermis or middle layer of the skin. It will help improve your skins’ texture, fine lines and is great for all skin types.

Frac-3 laser pulses create a three-dimensional, fractional pattern in the dermis and epidermis. Pulses are distributed in a three-dimensional manner throughout the skin, creating thermal heating in the tissue and inciting an immune response in the area to tighten the skin. This laser method is the next level in laser skin rejuvenation procedures because of its’ effectiveness and short healing time. This can be used as part of the face and also neck tightening treatments.

4. erbium Smooth Mode

Smooth mode can be added or substituted in these treatments for further tightening of superficial epidermal skin layers. This non-ablative treatment uses heating of the epidermal surface, then deeper lying tissue is heated achieved with heat diffusion from the skin’s surface. The skin may be red for 1-3 days after the treatment, then will be flaky for another 1-2 days, revealing a smoother skin surface when healing is complete. This treatment can be done around the eyes as well, even over eyelids to tighten crepey, wrinkled thin skin around the eyes. This can be done on its own, or as part of the laser face tightening treatment.

5. SupErficial ERBIUM laser peel (optional)

This treatment is optional as it requires downtime. The final stage of the 4D treatment is a light laser peel to give you that polished look! The treatment removes dead skin cells by vaporizing them, reducing superficial fine lines, and diminishing pore size. This creates a smooth, clean surface. After this treatment, you will see redness for a few days and your skin will be flaky for up to a week. You must remain indoors for 3-7 days after the laser peel, depending on how fast you heal. Then a mineral physical SPF 50 sunscreen is required daily and excessive sun exposure should be avoided until your skin is fully healed.

1. HOW DOES THE LASER TIGHTEN SKIN?

All aesthetic treatments for anti-aging (lasers, ultherapy, microneedling, etc) work in much the same way. They create purposeful injury to the deeper skin layers via either creating holes in the skin or adding heat into the skin, which then promopts your immune system to repair the tissue and rebuild the collagen, leaving the tissue stronger than it was prior to the treatment. Much the same way as lifting heavy weights will strengthen muscle tissue over time, the more agressive the treament to the skin, the better the results will likely be. It is very important that clients are very healthy when they receive any of these types of teatments, as the client’s immune system is providing the results!

2. HOW LONG DO THE TIGHETNING EFFECTS OF THESE TREATMENTS LAST?

This is one of the most commonly asked questions about laser treatments. The answer is not simple or the same for everyone. Because the laser only creates thermal damage to the tissue and your own body is responsible for the repair, it is impossible to predict the extent of each person’s results. Your body should repair the injured tissue to be in a stronger, healthier state than prior to the laser treatment, however we will still continue to age over time. Keeping your body healthy and your immune system strong will lengthen the time that you get to enjoy your smoother skin.

3. What should I expect after the treatment?

After the treatment, your skin will react similar to a sunburn (except that this will be strengthening your DNA and not damaging it!). You skin will feel warm, and look red for the rst of the day. The next few days involve some tightness, mild soreness, itching and flaking skin for approx 4-7 days, depending on how long it takes your body to heal. The skin should appear to be back to normal after approx. 6-10 days, however the healing process (results!) for the deeper layers of skin will continue for several months.
