morpheus8 microneedling in calgary
Fractional Radiofrequency of
Morpheus8 is a treatment that combines ultra-deep (more than any other micro-needling devices) micro needling with radio frequency (heat) to create columns in the skin, which are then healed by the body’s immune system. The body repairs and builds collagen and elastin in these columns, which leaves the deep skin tissue (including fat) smoother, stronger, and tighter than before the treatment.
The radio frequency cauterizes the skin as it treats, so much less downtime is required afterward. Because of the low risk for infection post-treatment, most clients will not have to stay indoors for several days, such as after a CO2 or Erbium deep fractional treatment. Makeup and sunscreen can be used 1-2 days after the treatment, and most normal activities can be resumed.
Morpheus8 can be combined with many other treatments as well to give even more spectacular results. Combine with IPL to even out skin tone, or combine with other tightening methods for greater collagen rebuilding!

What happens during the treatment?
The procedure requires only prescription numbing cream, applied for approx.. 30 minutes to the treated area.
The device has different tips with various depths to treat different area of the face and body. Face will require less depth, whereas the body would require more depth.
The treatment will begin with a small test spot and then observed for several minutes for adverse reactions, which are rare. The session will involve stamping the collection of needles into the skin and will take between 15-45 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated. Pressure, pinching sensations and heat will be felt during the treatment, but should be tolerable after the strong numbing cream has been applied for one hour.
Afterwards, clients can expect to feel warm for a few hours. Redness, itchiness, and minor swelling may last for a few days, although most facial treatments only involve approx. 24 hours of downtime.
For treatments on the neck and body, redness as well as visible lines of demarcation from the treatment (small puncture/pin prick wounds) should be expected for 1-2 weeks.
Detailed after care instructions will be provided as well as products to be used to care for the skin after the treatment.
Mineral sunscreen must be used after the first 24 hours and applied daily after the treatment. Makeup can also be applied. We strongly recommend a clean and natural mineral makeup like ColoreScience to avoid reactions with the skin, which will be sensitive.
How long will it take to heal?
After the treatment, some warmth, swelling, redness and possibly bruising is normal. Skin healing time will vary depending on how quickly your immune system can heal as well as age, lifestyle and aftercare.
You may return to work 24 hours after the procedure with mineral sunscreen applied. Many clients will choose to have the treatment done on a Thursday or a Friday and then will be able to use mineral sunscreen and makeup and return to work on Monday, looking much better. A few days after the treatment, you will experience some flaking skin.
The pin prick marks from the treatment should heal within 5-8 days, especially if the recommended products are used and after care instructions are followed closely.
When will I see results and how long will they last?
It takes the body months to fully heal the tissue and show improvements after any skin tightening treatment. After photos will be taken at 3 and 6 month intervals. Further improvements will be seen over a few months after each treatment. Before and after photos will always be taken so that clients can see their progress and changes.
All aesthetic treatments cause controlled wounds to the skin which prompt the body to heal the tissue stronger than it was prior to the treatment. Since the results come from the body’s ability to heal, the results are completely and solely in the hands of the client after the treatment. There are never guarantees that each person’s body will heal at the same rate or that the body will respond in the manner that we would hope.
How long the results last also varies with each person. Lifestyle, age and skin care play a huge role as well remembering that the body will continue slowly aging after each treatment. Using daily mineral sunscreen, a good skin care regimen and living a healthy lifestyle with exercise and eating a healthy diet full of antioxidants will always provide the best results.
On average, many clients are happy with their results for 2-4 years before they feel that they need further treatments.
Who is not a good candidate for Morpheus8?
- If someone is pregnant or nursing
- If any type of infection is present near the area to be treated
- Anyone who may be prone to bleeding, have a bleeding disorder, or take blood thinning medications
- Anyone who has an autoimmune disorder or any other medical concerns that could impair healing

WHAT TO AVOID AFTER THE TREATMENT:
Do not consume any alcohol for at least 3-4 days after the treatment. Alcohol thins the blood causing bleeding, as well as raises histamine levels which cause redness and swelling and slows healing time.
Do NOT use any Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Beta Hydroxy Acid, Retinol (Vitamin A) or anything perceived as ‘active’ skincare for at least one week after treatment.
Avoid intentional and direct sunlight for at least 24 hours and stay indoors.
No tanning beds for 2-3 months after the treatment as this causes pigmentation (brown spots) in healing skin.
Do not go swimming or use hot tubs or saunas for at least 48 hours post-treatment.
No exercising or strenuous activity for 48 hours after the treatment. Sweat contains bacteria which could cause infections.
How is Morpheus different than all of the other micro needling treatments out there?
Morpheus8 micro needling is different than its competitors thanks to the insulated tips, which give Morpheus the ability to penetrate the skin at many different depths comfortably. Morpheus micro needling treatment in Calgary can reach depths of up to 4-5 mm, which is considerably deeper than most other micro-needling treatments. It also combines the tips with radio frequency heat, which can affect multiple layers of skin and ignite the body’s healing response in both the upper and lower dermis while coagulating superficial fat.
