The Fotona SP’s ND:Yag laser offers fast, comfortable and very effective hair removal and is the only laser wavelength proven to be effective and safe for ALL skin types.

Have you already paid hundreds or even thousands of dollars towards hair removal to have everything grow back?  Are you skeptical that hair removal actually works?  We hear this concern on a regular basis in our consultations and would like to explain a few reasons why this may have happened.

There are two different technologies for hair removal, laser and IPL, if you’ve had IPL treatments for permanent hair reduction, chances are you are a firm believer that hair removal does not work ?

IPL energy (Intense Pulse Light) is produced by a strong light bulb which is intended to treat numerous skin conditions.  It is very effective for treating pigmentation, acne and vascular issues but is not effective at permanently destroying hair follicles.  Once an IPL pulse is delivered to the skin it widely disperses spreading the heat to it’s different targets.  If the pulse finds a hair follicle it will certainly deliver enough heat to temporarily affect the hair but it’s not enough to permanently destroy the follicle.

Laser Hair Removal is VERY effective if you have a new, well maintained, high-quality laser.  Laser is very specific in its target, once the pulse is delivered a concentrated beam of light is aimed at the hair follicle, the pigment in the hair absorbs the heat until the follicle is destroyed permanently.  That is why it is so important to have a new, well-maintained laser, you need the full power of the laser to affect the hair.

Another factor that could be playing into poor results is hair color.   The laser is attracted to the pigmentation in the hair, the darker and thicker the hair the more heat the follicle will absorb permanently destroying it.  If you have light blond or white/grey hair the lack of pigmentation makes it hard for the laser to absorb into, not giving enough heat to destroy the follicle.

Skin color also matters because laser targets pigment darker skin tones could end up absorbing some of the heat into the skin that is needed to target the hair follicle.  That is why IPL is VERY dangerous to use on skin types 4, 5 & 6.  It is a superficial disbursement of heat that the skin will absorb resulting in burns and hyperpigmentation.  Some diode lasers that are very popular for hair removal will also be attracted to the pigment in the skin in darker skin types rather than the hair.  In these circumstances, lower heat is used to prevent burns which is usually not enough to permanently destroy hair follicles.

Unlike other wavelengths the Fotona ND:Yag laser can saeffectivelyfectively treat all skin types (1-6).  This new patented laser technology uses a method that no other laser on the market can perform!  The laser uses a fractionated beam that slowly delivers heat to each hair follicle over 4 passes allowing the hair to absorb more energy.  This technology makes treatments comfortable for clients, reduces hair by 10-25% per session and is extremely fast.
